This Privacy Policy explains how S.E.C Electrical Pty Ltd (ABN 63 159 531 174) trading as Island Energy, and its related entities ("Island Energy", "we", "us"), collect, use, store and share personal information. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. What personal information we collect

  • Your name, phone number, email address, postal and property address.
  • Details about your property and energy use, such as electricity bills, meter and NMI details, roof and switchboard photos, existing solar or battery equipment, and site access notes.
  • Information you give us in enquiry forms, including answers about the products you're interested in, your power bill range, home ownership and timeframe.
  • Information needed to claim government rebates and incentives, such as STC assignment forms and eligibility details.
  • Payment and finance details, where you pay us or apply for finance through a third-party provider.
  • Records of our calls, emails and messages with you.
  • Website and advertising data, such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, the ad or keyword that brought you to our site, and click identifiers from Google or Meta.

2. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you fill in a form on our website, submit a lead form on Facebook or Instagram, call or email us, request a quote, or have a system installed. We may also collect it from third parties you authorise, such as your electricity distributor or retailer, finance providers, and rebate or certificate agents. Our website uses cookies and similar tools from Google and Meta to measure our advertising.

3. Why we collect and use it

  • To respond to your enquiry, contact you about your quote, and design and price a system for your property.
  • To install, commission, maintain and support your system, including warranty claims and after-care.
  • To apply for grid connection approvals and to create and claim Small-scale Technology Certificates and other government rebates or incentives on your behalf.
  • To manage payments, invoicing and our business records.
  • To measure and improve our website and advertising.
  • To send you information about our products and services, where you have agreed to this. You can opt out at any time (see section 6).
  • To meet our legal, licensing, safety and regulatory obligations.

4. Who we share it with

We only share personal information as needed for the purposes above, with:

  • our employees, electricians and installation contractors;
  • electricity distributors and retailers, for grid connection and metering;
  • the Clean Energy Regulator, state energy agencies and rebate or certificate agents, for rebate and STC claims;
  • product manufacturers and suppliers, for warranty and product registration;
  • finance providers, where you apply for finance;
  • service providers that help us run our business, such as our CRM, accounting, email, form and automation software, and our advertising platforms (Google and Meta);
  • government bodies, regulators or others where the law requires or permits it.

We don't sell your personal information.

5. Overseas storage

Some of our software and advertising providers store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States, Europe and India. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure those providers handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Marketing and opting out

If you have agreed to hear from us, we may contact you by phone, SMS or email about our products, services and offers. Every marketing email or SMS includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can contact us using the details below.

7. Cookies and advertising

Our website uses cookies and tracking tools, including Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta, to understand how people use our site and to measure the results of our ads. These tools may use cookies to show you our ads on other sites and apps. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and adjust your ad preferences in your Google and Meta account settings.

8. How we protect and keep your information

We store personal information in secure, access-controlled systems and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including warranty periods and legal record-keeping requirements, and then securely destroy or de-identify it.

9. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us. We'll respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. If we can't give you access, we'll explain why.

10. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first and we'll aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
