We worked with our client to establish their energy requirements to power their daily operations. Understanding their daytime peak and off peak loads including their meter interval data trends were imperative to providing an evidence-based solution for onsite renewable energy generation. We looked at local meteorology data including averages of daily sunlight hours, LAT LONG coordinates to forecast solar production, design and positioning of the pv array, life expectancy and annual degradation of the component options over a period of 20 years (life expectancy), and of course budget. We came up with a 198 x panel solution supported by the 'brains' of the system; the Austrian designed, engineered and manufactured inverter powerhouse company Fronius. This client is expected to find a return on their investment within 4.5 years saving an average of $19,054.47 per year

During the consultation phase Island Energy’s CEC accredited designer visited the camp multiple times to assess the suitability and viability of installing solar, working closely with the project manager Kevin Eddy and Barry Kennedy through phone, email and regular site meetings to understand the specific needs of the camp. The camp has a high consumption of energy spending more than $49,240.00 per year on electricity. The total system cost $44,109.55, but after government rebates that Island Energy helped to secure including -$11,665.00 federal rebate as well as the ACA member discount of -$1000.00, the Solar Victoria Small Business Rebate of -$3,500.00 and the Solar Victoria Interest Free Loan of -$5,000.00 the final upfront cost was just $26,700.00 which will pay for itself within 2.5 years.
