As a key priority area of their action plan, Island Energy designed and installed 100kW of solar PV on the Main Council Administration Building in Tewantin which has significantly reduced their emissions as well as providing offsets to other areas of the organisation with the excess clean energy generated.
The Noosa North Shore Holiday Park, another asset within the councils portfolio was another site identified as suitable for onsite embedded energy generation with another 39kW of solar PV designed and installed by Island Energy.
In total the council has now installed over 600kW of solar PV systems and on average the solar systems are providing approximately 50% of their energy needs.
The planning and environment committee are continuing to investigate further options for Noosa Council to use energy more efficiently and how to use 100% renewable electricity and we look forward to further opportunities in assisting the organisation on their journey to Net Zero
